Ready, Set, Pour: Choosing the Right Concrete Method
When it comes to concrete, there are multiple methods available, from large-scale concrete delivery services to mixing by hand. In this article we’ll take a closer look at the differences between Concrete Taxi, a small batch concrete delivery company, and mixing concrete by hand. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast building your own chicken coop or a professional contractor, understanding the benefits and disadvantages of each method will help you make an informed decision for your next project.
The Art of Mixing Concrete by Hand – Pros and Cons
Mixing concrete by hand is the DIY of the concrete business. It is the process of combining and blending the sand, aggregate, water, and cement together to make the perfect concrete mixture.
Generally, this method is used for home projects which require only a small amount of concrete, as it’s often not feasible to use a traditional concrete delivery company. When mixing concrete by hand it is important to keep in mind that you will need a multitude of tools and materials to create your perfect mixture. At a bare minimum, you will need the following;
Cement, sand, gravel or another aggregate
Water
Wheelbarrow
Shovel or other mixing tool
Measuring tools, such as a bucket or measuring cup
Whilst it is a time consuming and labour-intensive method, mixing concrete by hand does offer several benefits. First of all, you have total control over the consistency and texture of your concrete mix. Which allows you to tailor the mix to ensure it has the perfect strength for the project. Furthermore, you can mix on site, regardless of how difficult it might be to access the location.

Had Plamen supply 2m3 in north Brisbane area yesterday. Was punctual, professional and super helpful with advice and physical assistance which as an inexperienced DIY concreter was fantastic. Also got quantity spot on so not waste. Yes, you pay a little more with concrete taxi than bulk load but the advice from Plamen and no waste well and truly make up for it. Second time using concrete taxi and both times have been a great experience.

We just used Concrete Taxi for some small jobs. Their service is exemplary. Tony was terrific, he turned up on time and went above and beyond to make our job run smoothly. Highly recommended.
I appreciated you pointing out that concrete taxi provides a convenient method to the market. My friend told me that their concrete needs repair. I should advise him to hire a concreter that is licensed and insured.
